Green energy applied to UNESCO WHS Porta degli Angeli Ferrara

Investing in green sustainable energy is key to tackling increasing global energy demands. The EU Horizon 2020 project GEO4CIVHIC faces this challenge head on with cutting edge heating and cooling technology. The project integrates geothermal energy in civil and historical buildings using shallow geothermal heating and cooling solutions.

Angel’s Gate in Ferrara is one of the project’s demonstration sites coordinated by the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture. Together with different experts, innovative solutions are implemented. Decarbonisation initiatives and Recovery plans are greatly supported by governments making geothermal energy economically and environmentally attractive. By using shallow geothermal energy, fossil fuel consumption is reduced contributing the objectives of the initiatives of the commission.
